Artist Statement:

I have been making art almost all of my 90 years of life. Before becoming a visual artist, I was a ballet and modern dancer. Over the past many decades, while raising my children and beyond, I have done basketry, pottery, enamelling, weaving, fabric art, paper maché and paper collage.

Thirteen years ago I became ill and lost the feeling in my hands. I had to find new ways to create. I adapted by doing collage with hand torn paper and then five years ago I began to paint. I use acrylics on canvas, and have invented various methods to move the paint around by using plastic cards, forks, dripping the paint and moving the canvas. My latest works have come from using forks.

I paint almost every day. No matter what, I keep creating art. My paintings are abstract and my main inspiration (my muse) is colour.

I was invited to join Open Studio to share my creativity, and enjoy watching others in their own creative processes.
